Ignition Switch

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Ignition Switch

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 8-pin electrical harness connector from ignition switch at bottom of upper steering column bracket. Note ignition switch electrical terminals and ignition lock cylinder positions. See Fig 1.
  2. Using a DVOM, check continuity between specified terminals of ignition switch with ignition lock cylinder in each specified position. See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITYΒ  table. See Fig 1. Replace ignition switch if defective. See IGNITION SWITCHΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

    LOCK Any No Continuity
    ACC 2 & 3 Continuity
    ON 2, 3 & 4; 6 & 7 Continuity
    START 1, 2 & 4; 6, 7 & 8 Continuity
