Light Control Rheostat
2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Light Control Rheostat

- Turn ignition off. Remove light control rheostat. Light control rheostat is incorporated into heating and ventilation register on left side of instrument panel. Disconnect 3-pin electrical harness connector from rheostat. Using jumper wires, connect positive battery voltage to light control rheostat terminal No. 1 and negative battery voltage to terminal No. 3. See Fig 1.
- Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal No. 2 and negative lead to terminal No. 3. Note voltage reading. Rotate light control rheostat knob and observe voltage reading. Voltage should change as knob is rotated. If voltage does not change, replace light control rheostat. See LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTATΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
