Hazard Warning Switch

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Hazard Warning Switch

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove hazard warning switch from center air ventilation grille. Disconnect 10-pin electrical harness connector from switch. Note hazard warning switch electrical terminals and switch positions.
  2. Using a DVOM, check continuity between specified terminals of hazard warning switch with switch in specified position. See Fig 1. See HAZARD WARNING SWITCH CONTINUITYΒ  table. Replace hazard warning switch if defective.

    Switch Position Test Between Terminals (1) Specification
    OFF 5 & 7 Continuity
    ON 5 & 6; 1, 2, 3 & 4 Continuity
    Illumination Circuit 8 & 9 Continuity
