Component Tests: Speedometer

  1. On-Vehicle Inspection -Β  Using a speedometer tester, inspect the speedometer for allowable indication error and check the operation of the odometer. Tire wear and tire over or under inflation will increase the indication error. See INSPECTING SPEEDOMETER ON-VEHICLEΒ  table. If the error is excessive, replace the speedometer. See COMBINATION METERΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

  2. Resistance Inspection -Β  Measure the resistance between terminals with fixing pointer to the stopper. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATIONΒ . See INSPECTING RESISTANCE WITH FIXING POINTER TO STOPPERΒ  table. If resistance value is not as specified, replace the meter. See COMBINATION METERΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
