Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Fuel Cut System (All Models Except Tacoma)
Controlled through input signals, Engine Control Module (ECM) will shut off fuel delivery momentarily during closed throttle deceleration. In addition, fuel cut control has been implemented to stop the fuel pump when the airbag is deployed. In this system, the airbag deployment signal from the airbag sensor assembly is detected by the ECM, which turns OFF the circuit opening relay. After the fuel cut control has been activated, turning the ignition switch from OFF or ON cancels the fuel cut control, thus engine can be restarted.
