- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON. Read the STA signal on the hand-held tester while the starter is operating. See STA SIGNAL CHECKΒ table. If STA signal is okay, system is okay. Problem is intermittent. If STA signal is not okay, go to next step.STA SIGNAL CHECK
Ignition Switch Position STA Signal ON OFF START ON - Check ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Repair as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check park/neutral position switch. See DTC P0705: PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONΒ . Replace switch as necessary. If okay, go to next step.
- Check for open in harness and connector between ECM and park/neutral position switch. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace ECM.
