Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve: Inspection

2004 Toyota Matrix XR, FWD, StandardSECTION Inspection

  1. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) 
    1. Disconnect the OCV connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and OCV.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the OCV.

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) OPERATION 

    Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check the movement of the valve as shown in Fig 2 and Fig 3.
