Intake Air Control System (3MZ-FE): Inspection
- INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO. 2
- Check the operation.
- With vacuum of 26.7 kPa (200 mmHg, 7.9 in.Hg) applied to the actuator, check that the valve closes.
- 1 minute after applying the vacuum, check that the valve remains closed.
NOTE: Do not adjust the adjust screw.If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve No. 2.
- Check the operation.
- INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO. 3
- Check the operation.
- With vacuum of 26.7 kPa (200 mmHg, 7.9 in.Hg) applied to the actuator, check that the valve opens.
- 1 minute after applying the vacuum, check that the valve remains opened.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve No. 3.
- Inspect the resistance.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve No. 3.
- Check the continuity.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is continuity, replace the intake air control valve No. 3.
- Check the operation.
- Check that air flows from port E to the filter.
- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that air flows from port E to F.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake air control valve No. 3.
- Check the operation.
- INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSY NO. 1
- Inspect the resistance.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve No. 1.
- Check the continuity.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is continuity, replace the vacuum switching valve No. 1.
- Check the operation.
- Check that air flows from port E to the filter.
- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that air flows from port E to F.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve No. 1.
- Inspect the resistance.
- INSPECT AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSY
- Check the operation.
- Cover port C with your finger, then check that the air flow from port B to A.
- Cover port C with your finger, then check that the air does not flow from port A to B.
- Cover ports A and C with your fingers, then apply 60 kPa (450 mmHg, 18 in.Hg) of vacuum to port B. Check that there is no vacuum change after 1 minute.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the air cleaner cap.
- Check the operation.
