Throttle Body ASSY (3MZ-FE): Replacement
2004 Toyota Celica GT, StandardSECTION Replacement

- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL)
- REMOVE RADIATOR LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See ENGINE COOLANT (3MZ-FE) )
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BRACE CENTER (W/O TEMS)
- Remove the 4 nuts, then remove the front suspension upper brace center and 4 spacers.
- Temporarily tighten the 4 nuts.
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY
- Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, remove the 3 nuts.
- Unfasten the 2 retainers, then remove the V-bank cover.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSY
- Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
- Disconnect the 4 vacuum hoses.
- Disconnect the ventilation hose No. 2.
- Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the 2 hose clamps.
- Loosen the 2 air cleaner cap bolts.
- Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt, then remove the air cleaner cap.
- Remove the air cleaner filter element.
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSY
- Disconnect the throttle motor connector.
- Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
- Disconnect the water by-pass hose No. 3.
- Remove the 4 bolts, then remove the throttle body.
- Remove the gasket from the intake air connector.
- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSY
- Install a new gasket to the intake air connector.
- Instal the throttle body with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 11 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf)
- Connect the water by-pass hose No. 3.
- Connect the water by-pass hose No. 2.
- Connect the throttle motor connector.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSY
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
- CHECK CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE
- CONNECT ENGINE WIRE NO. 3 (BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL)
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See ENGINE COOLANT (3MZ-FE) )
- CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY
- Fit the 2 retainers, then install the V-bank cover.
- Using a socket hexagon wrench 5, tighten the 3 nuts.
Torque: 7.9 N.m (81 kgf.cm, 70 in.lbf)
- INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER BRACE CENTER (W/O TEMS)
Torque: 80 N.m (816 kgf.cm, 59 ft.lbf)
- INSTALL RADIATOR LOWER AIR DEFLECTOR
- SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (See PRECAUTION )
