Parking Brake System: Adjustments

ADJUSTMENT
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE
3. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)





4. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
a. Slowly depress the parking brake pedal all the way, and count the number of clicks.
Parking brake pedal travel at 294 N (30 kgf, 66 lbs.): 5 - 7 clicks





5. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
a. Confirm that the parking brake pedal is released.
b. Fix the turnbuckle and loosen the lock nut "A".
c. Rotate the turn buckle to adjust the parking brake pedal travel to the specification.
d. Fix the turnbuckle and tighten the lock nut "A".
Torque:
Nut A: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
e. After operating the parking brake several times, check the parking brake pedal travel.
If adjustment cannot be done by loosening the nut "A", adjust the travel by loosening the nut "B".
Torque:
Nut B: 12.5 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
f. Check whether parking brake drags or not.
g. When operating the parking brake pedal, check that the parking brake pedal indicator light lights up.
