Introduction

Some owners of 2001 or 2002 model year Highlander vehicles without the VSC option may experience a M.I.L. "ON" condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code P0500 present in the system and may complain that the ABS light is illuminated. An updated Skid Control ECU has now been made available to correct this condition.

Repair Procedure

1. Investigate the vehicle as per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual, Volume 1, Section 05, pages 98-100.

2. If no problem is found, replace the Skid Control ECU, per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual, Volume 1, Section 32, page 52.
