- Fuel tank is located in trunk area, directly behind the rear seat. See Fig 1. Remove rear seat cushion and seat back for access to fuel tank. Release fuel pressure by using procedure for disconnecting fuel tank fuel shutoff valve and fuel tank fuel temperature sensor. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASEΒ .
- Remove luggage compartment cover from inside the trunk for access to fuel tank. Remove driver's side and passenger's side roof side inner panels. See Fig 1. Remove stoplight assembly from package tray. Remove package tray, package tray trim pad and rear outer seat belt assemblies. Disconnect necessary electrical connectors at support bar assembly. Remove bolts/nuts and support bar assembly.
- Slowly loosen union nut on end of each fuel pipe near fuel pipe connector and allow any remaining fuel to drain. Remove bolts and fuel pipe protector. Remove bolts/nuts from fuel tank frame assembly. Remove fuel tank along with fuel tank frame assembly.
- Remove nuts, cover and seal from end of fuel tank. See Fig 2. Disconnect electrical connector for fuel tank fuel temperature sensor and fuel tank fuel shutoff valve from fuel tank valve case. Disconnect grommet from fuel tank valve case.
- Separate electrical connector for fuel tank fuel shutoff valve from electrical connector for fuel tank fuel temperature sensor. Disconnect electrical connector for fuel tank fuel shutoff valve from bracket. Remove nuts, bracket and fuel tank fuel temperature sensor from end of fuel tank
- Remove clamps and fuel tank valve cover ducts. Remove fuel pipe assembly with "O" rings from end of fuel tank. Note union location on fuel tank valve assembly for installation reference. Remove unions with "O" rings from fuel tank valve assembly on end of fuel tank. Remove front side plate, fuel tank valve case, seal and rear side plate from end of fuel tank. Remove fuel tank strap bolts at fuel tank frame assembly. Remove fuel tank from fuel tank frame assembly.NOTE: If disposing of fuel tank, rotate both recessed bolts on end of fuel tank fully clockwise to prevent any fuel from bleeding out of fuel tank. See Fig 2. Contact industrial waste disposal company for proper disposal of fuel tank.
