Description & Operation

1999 Toyota Camry XLE, 2.2 GSECTION Description & Operation

Keyless entry system allows doors to be locked and unlocked by use of low-power electrical waves emitted from a hand-held transmitter. Pushing unlock button once will turn off theft deterrent system and unlock driver's door. Pushing transmitter button again within 3 seconds will unlock other doors. If doors are not opened within 30 seconds, all doors will automatically relock.

When ignition key is in ignition key cylinder, integration relay on Camry Solara and 2000 Camry, or wireless door lock control ECU on 1999 Camry will prevent doors and luggage compartment from opening. See Figure. If after wireless door lock or unlock operation, door lock condition does not change, ECU or integration relay waits 2 seconds and then sends current three times to door lock motor. If door lock condition still has not changed, wireless door lock ECU or integration relay stops signal reception and stops door lock and unlock function. Theft deterrent and door lock control ECU on 1999 Camry and integration relay on Camry Solara and 2000 Camry is protected by a DOOR fuse (25-amp) located in instrument panel junction block and by DOME fuse (7.5-amp) located in engine compartment junction block No. 2. Since Camry Solara and 2000 Camry do not have a wireless door lock ECU, they have a separate door lock control receiver.
