NOTE:
For 1998 Tercel, see DTC 49: STOPLIGHT SWITCH (1998 TERCEL) under DIAGNOSTIC TESTSΒ .
- Depress brake pedal. Check stoplight operation. If stoplight bulbs illuminate, go to next step. Replace stoplight bulb or repair wiring as necessary.
- Remove ABS ECU with connectors still connected. Depress brake pedal. Check voltage by backprobing Green/White wire at ECU connector A12 terminal No. 12 (Tercel) or connector A15 terminal No. 12 (Paseo). If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step.
- Check for open in Green/White wire between stoplight switch terminal No. 1 and ECU connector A12 terminal No. 12 (Tercel) or connector A15 terminal No. 12 (Paseo). See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ . Repair wiring if necessary. If no problems are found, perform appropriate ECU pin voltage test under PIN VOLTAGEΒ .
