Fuel Pump Relay

1997 Toyota Previa DX, RWDSECTION Fuel Pump Relay
NOTE: Fuel pump relay may also be referred to as fuel pump control relay.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay is located on passenger's side of underhood compartment, near wiper motor and contains a Gray 4-pin electrical connector. See Fig 1.
  2. To check fuel pump relay continuity, use ohmmeter to check continuity between specified terminals. See Fig 2. Continuity should exist between terminals +B1 and FPR, and terminals +B1 and FP. No continuity should exist between terminals +B1 and PR.
  3. To check fuel pump relay operation, apply battery voltage and ground to terminals +B1 and FPR on fuel pump relay. Check continuity and voltage between specified terminals. See Fig 2. No continuity should exist between terminals +B1 and FP. Voltage should exist between terminals PR and FPR. Replace fuel pump relay if defective.
