  1. Ensure plunger moves freely inward and outward on No. 2 timing chain tensioner when pawl is raised upward.See Fig 3. Release pawl and ensure plunger is locked and does not move when pressure is applied on plunger.
  2. Ensure oil jet on rear of No. 2 timing chain tensioner is not clogged or damaged by applying air pressure to rear of No. 2 timing chain tensioner. Air should pass out holes on body of No. 2 timing chain tensioner. See Fig 3. Replace No. 2 timing chain tensioner if operation is not as specified.
