  1. Check all components for excessive wear or damage. Measure clearance between adjusting screw (with shim installed) and sector shaft. Maximum clearance should be .002" (.05 mm).
  2. If clearance is not within specification, replace shim. Shims are available from .0767-.0807" (1.95-2.05 mm) in .0020" (.05 mm) increments. Ensure inside diameter of sector shaft end cover bushing is 1.4201" (36.07 mm).
  3. Carefully check worm gear and ball nut without letting ball nut bottom out on either end of worm gear. If ball nut bottoms out, worm assembly will be damaged.
