- Check all components for excessive wear or damage. Measure clearance between adjusting screw (with shim installed) and sector shaft. Maximum clearance should be .002" (.05 mm).
- If clearance is not within specification, replace shim. Shims are available from .0767-.0807" (1.95-2.05 mm) in .0020" (.05 mm) increments. Ensure inside diameter of sector shaft end cover bushing is 1.4201" (36.07 mm).
- Carefully check worm gear and ball nut without letting ball nut bottom out on either end of worm gear. If ball nut bottoms out, worm assembly will be damaged.
