- Lubricate and install oil seal rings on overdrive case, ensuring ring ends are hooked. After installing oil seal rings, ensure rings rotate smoothly. Install new "O" ring on overdrive brake piston. Carefully install piston with cup side upward.
- Install piston return springs. Install snap ring. Ensure end-gap of snap ring is not aligned with cutouts of case. ensure snap ring is inserted in its groove.
- Install thrust bearing and races on planetary ring gear with raised in proper direction. Install planetary ring gear assembly into clutch case.
- With the case open area facing upward, install cushion plate into case with rounded side inward. Install in order: plate, disc, plate, disc, plate, disc. Install flange with rounded edge facing upward. Install snap ring. ensure end-gap of snap ring is not aligned with cutouts of case.
- On A-43D and A-44D models, check overdrive brake piston stroke. Install overdrive case on transmission case with cutout portion of overdrive case facing upward side of transmission case. Ensure overdrive case oil hole is aligned with transmission case oil hole. Measure brake piston stroke by applying compressed air to oil hole. See Fig 1. Piston stroke should be .0256-.0870" (.650-2.210 mm). If piston stroke is less than specification, components may have been misassembled.
- On A-45DL and A-45DF models, measure brake pack clearance between snap ring and flange. Standard clearance should be .0256-.0870" (.650-2.210 mm). Clearance must be within specification. Install washer on ring gear. See Fig 2.
