Disconnect vacuum hose from pipe "S" of vacuum control valve and connect to intake manifold. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve and connect vacuum gauge to it. Start cold engine. With cold engine, vacuum should be zero at 2000 RPM. With hot engine, intake manifold vacuum should be present. Disconnect vacuum gauge and connect engine vacuum directly to EGR valve. Engine should die.
