Center Console - Remove and Install: Install

2018 Tesla Model 3 BaseSECTION Install
  1. With an assistant, install the center console into the vehicle as follows:
    1. Tilt the front of the center console downwards.
    2. Slide the center console towards the front of the vehicle.
    3. Tilt the rear of the center console downwards until it is in place.
  2. Connect the electrical connector in the rear of the center console.
    CAUTION: Ensure the connector is properly installed. Perform a push-pull test before continuing this procedure.

  3. Install the bolt that attaches the RH rear of the center console to the body.

    7 N.m (5.2 ft-lbs)Β 

    NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • 1/4 in std ratchet
    • 1/4 in torque wrench (installation only)

  4. Install the bolt that attaches the LH rear of the center console to the body.

    7 N.m (5.2 ft-lbs)Β 

    NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • 1/4 in std ratchet
    • 1/4 in torque wrench (installation only)

  5. Install the center console lower rear panel. See PANEL - LOWER REAR - CENTER CONSOLE (REMOVE AND REPLACE)Β .
  6. Move the front passenger seat rearward.
  7. Install the bolts that attach the RH front of the center console to the body.

    7 N.m (5.2 ft-lbs)Β 

    NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • 1/4 in std ratchet
    • 1/4 in torque wrench (installation only)

  8. Connect the electrical connector that is located at the RH front of the center console.
    CAUTION: Ensure the connector is properly installed. Perform a push-pull test before continuing this procedure.

  9. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See SIDE PANEL - CENTER CONSOLE - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE)Β .
  10. Install the front passenger floormat.
  11. Move the front passenger seat to the original position.
  12. Move the driver seat rearward.
  13. Install the bolts that attach the LH front of the center console to the body.

    7 N.m (5.2 ft-lbs)Β 

    NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • 1/4 in std ratchet
    • 1/4 in torque wrench (installation only)

  14. Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See SIDE PANEL - CENTER CONSOLE - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE)Β .
  15. Install the driver floormat.
  16. Open the center console rotating lid.
  17. Install the bolts that attach the front of the center console to the body.

    1.7 N.m (1.3 ft-lbs)Β 

    • Torx T20 socket
    • 4 in extension
    • 1/4 in std ratchet
    • Wiha TorqueVario-S 0.8 N.m - 2.0 N.m screwdriver (installation only)
    • Wiha 1/4 in bit holder adapter
    • Wiha torque setter

  18. Install the phone tray. See PHONE TRAY - CENTER CONSOLE (REMOVE AND REPLACE)Β .
  19. Move the driver seat to the original position.
  20. Restore the customer's belongings into the center console, if needed.
  21. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
