Preliminary Procedure 
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM (LY7 GE 47716 FILL) and DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM (LY7 STATIC FILL) .
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
  3. Remove the left rear upper garnish molding. Refer to LOCK PILLAR UPPER GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT (LEFT SIDE) and LOCK PILLAR UPPER GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT (RIGHT SIDE) .
  4. Remove the air ducts from the HVAC module. Refer to AUXILIARY AIR DISTRIBUTOR LOWER DUCT REPLACEMENT  and AUXILIARY AIR DISTRIBUTOR DUCT REPLACEMENT - UPPER .
  5. Disconnect the wiring connections.
  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
  7. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
  8. Remove the left inner wheelhouse liner. Refer to REAR WHEELHOUSE LINER PANEL REPLACEMENT .
  9. Remove the rubber exhaust hangers to gain access to the A/C and the 3 heater pipes.
  10. Disconnect the A/C and the heater pipes from the underside of the HVAC module.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
1 Auxiliary HVAC Module Bolts (Qty: 3)
CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

Tightening torque 
8 N.m (71 lb in) 
2 Auxiliary HVAC Module
  • Remove and discard the sealing washer. Refer to REMOVAL PROCEDURE .
  • Ensure the module seal is in good condition upon installation.
