The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the REDUCED POWER indicator when a serial data message from the body control module (BCM) requests illumination. The BCM receives a controller area network (CAN) serial data message from the powertrain control module (PCM) when the PCM determines that a certain amount of engine power has been lost.
