Fuel pump inspection 
  1. Remove fuel filler cap and turn ignition switch to ON position.
  2. Confirm that fuel pump operating sound is heard from fuel filler port for about 2 sec. and then it stops.

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 2. Check fuel pump circuit. See Fuel Pump and Its Circuit Check 
Fuel pressure check 
  1. Check fuel pressure. See Fuel Pressure Check 

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 3. Repair or replace defective part.
Power balance test 
  1. Check power balance. See Power Balance Test 

Is it in good condition? 
Fuel system is in good condition. Go to Step 4.
Fuel injector circuit check 
  1. Check fuel injector circuit. See Fuel Injector Circuit Check 

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 5. Repair or replace defective part.
Fuel injector check 
  1. Check fuel injector. See Fuel Injector Inspection 

Is it in good condition? 
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Replace fuel injector.
