Steering Gear Case Assembly Removal and Installation: Removal

2012 Suzuki Kizashi Sport GTS, FWD, Standard TransSECTION Removal
  1. Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
  2. Hoist vehicle.
  3. Remove steering lower shaft from steering gear case, see STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove front seat, see FRONT SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove glove box, center console box, side sill inner front scuff and dash side trim. INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION / CENTER CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION / TRIM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  6. Turn over floor carpet on passenger's side floor.
  7. Remove P/S control module cover, see P/S CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONΒ .
  8. Remove P/S motor connector (1), rotation angle/torque sensor connector (2) and ground wire (3) from P/S control module and pull these harnesses into the engine compartment.

  9. Hoist vehicle and remove wheel, see WHEEL (WITH TIRE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Remove cotter pin (2) and tie-rod end nut (1) from steering knuckle.

  11. Disconnect tie-rod end (1) from steering knuckle (2) using ball joint remover (3).

  12. Remove steering gear case and front stabilizer bar together with front suspension frame, see FRONT SUSPENSION FRAME REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Remove steering gear case (2) from front suspension frame (1).
  14. Remove grommet from vehicle side.
