Description of Keyless Start System Trunk Lid Opener Function
Trunk lid opener function consists of 2 types of unlock methods: using trunk lid request switch and using keyless entry system.
Unlocking using Trunk Lid Request Switch
The method for unlocking trunk lid using trunk lid request switch is as follows.
1. Push trunk lid request switch (1) in trunk lid.
2. Keyless start control module (2) activates mid inside antenna (3) and rear inside antenna (4) to transmit within the vehicle compartment and trunk room.
3. When keyless start control module determines that remote controller (5) is not in vehicle compartment and trunk room, it activates rear outside antenna (6) to send request signal to remote controller.
4. Remote controller receives request signal and then sends ID code to keyless start control module via keyless entry / TPMS receiver (7).
5. Keyless start control module compares ID code sent from remote controller with ID code registered in keyless start control module. If ID codes match, keyless start control module outputs trunk lid opener request signal to BCM (8) through CAN communication.
6. BCM activates trunk lid opener actuator (9).

Operation area
Distance between remote controller and rear outside antenna (2) should be within approximately 80 cm (31.5 in, 2.6 ft) (1), to ensure operation of trunk lid opener function.
NOTE:
- Trunk lid opener function may not operate if remote controller is placed too close to vehicle, near to the ground, or too high up.
- Trunk lid opener function may not operate if the same type of vehicles equipped with keyless start system are placed next to each other, and both of keyless start systems are operated at the same time.
- Trunk lid opener function may not operate if remote controller which has been registered and another unregistered one are both carried at the same time.

Remote controller lock-in trunk prevention function
This function prevents remote controller from being left in trunk room when trunk lid is closed with the doors locked.
When trunk lid is closed while all doors are closed and locked, keyless start control module activates rear inside antenna (1). When keyless start control module determines that remote controller is in the trunk room, it outputs trunk lid opener request signal to BCM through CAN communication.
NOTE:
- Remote controller lock-in trunk prevention function may operate even when remote controller is not in trunk room if remote controller is placed too close to trunk lid.
- When keyless start system function is off, remote controller lock-in trunk prevention function does not operate.

Unlocking with Keyless Entry System
When trunk lid open button on remote controller is pushed for more than 1 second with ignition mode "OFF", keyless start control module outputs a trunk lid opener request signal to BCM through CAN communication. When BCM receives signal, it activates trunk lid opener actuator.
