- Connect scan tool. Start engine and check for DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODESΒ under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any DTCs are displayed, go to appropriate DTC test. If no DTCs are displayed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connectors. Turn ignition on. If MIL illuminates, repair short to ground in Purple/Yellow wire between PCM 35-pin connector E61 and instrument cluster 16-pin connector G11 terminal No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If MIL does not illuminate, replace PCM and retest system.
