Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts: Introduction

2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLS, StandardSECTION Introduction
NOTE: For identification of ECM/PCM harness connectors and wire terminals, see PIN VOLTAGE/CIRCUIT RESISTANCE CHARTS article.

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

For individual component and system diagnostic test procedures, see SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

  • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
