Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure

2022 Subaru Impreza Base, 4D Sedan, Automatic CVT TransSECTION Procedure

CAUTION:

Remove foreign matter (dust, water, oil etc.) from the VDCCM and H/U connector during removal and installation. 

  1. CHECK PRE-INSPECTION  .
    1. Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using the interview check list. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW .
    2. Before performing diagnostics, check the component which might affect VDC or parking brake system problems. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>INSPECTION .

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

    No:  Repair or replace each component.

  2. CHECK INDICATION OF DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
    NOTE:

    If the communication function of the Subaru Select Monitor cannot be executed properly, check the communication circuit. Ref. to  BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE FOR SUBARU SELECT MONITOR COMMUNICATION  . 

    Are any DTCs displayed?

    Yes:  Record the DTC, time stamp and freeze frame data. Go to  4.

    No:  Go to  3.

  3. PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS  .
    1. Perform the inspection by referring to "General Diagnostic Table". Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>GENERAL DIAGNOSTIC TABLE .
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Brake Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    3. Execute the inspection mode. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>INSPECTION MODE .
    4. Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
    5. Check that the DTC is not displayed.

    Do the VDC warning light and VDC indicator light, VDC OFF indicator light and ABS warning light go off after starting the engine?

    Do the electronic parking brake warning light and the electronic parking brake operation indicator light go off with the electronic parking brake disengaged?

    Yes:  Finish the diagnosis.

    No:  Check the combination meter circuit. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN>ABS WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF . Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN>VDC WARNING LIGHT AND VDC INDICATOR LIGHT DO NOT GO OFF . Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN>ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT DO NOT GO OFF . Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION PATTERN>VDC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF .

  4. PERFORM DIAGNOSIS  .
  1. Refer to "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)".
    NOTE:

    For the DTC list, refer to "Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". Ref. to  BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>LIST  . 

  2. Correct the cause of trouble.
  3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Brake Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
  4. Execute the inspection mode. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>INSPECTION MODE .
  5. Read the DTC of [Brake Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Are any DTCs displayed?

Yes:  Repeat step  4 until DTC is not shown.

No:  Finish the diagnosis.
