Rear Gate Opener Button: Removal

2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5iSECTION Removal
NOTE:
  • The button - opener rear gate is integrated with the rear lock button.
  • Open the panel - rear gate before disconnecting the ground terminal from battery sensor.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. < Ref. to BATTERY , NOTE, Repair Contents. >
  2. Remove the trim panel - rear gate. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Gate Trim. >
  3. Remove the garnish assembly - rear gate. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Gate Garnish. >
  4. Remove the button - opener rear gate.
    1. Remove the garnish switch bracket from the garnish assembly - rear gate.
    2. While pushing the locks at both ends of the button - opener rear gate with a flat tip screwdriver, remove the button - opener rear gate together with the rear lock button.
