NUMBER: 15-151-11
DATE: 11/18/11
APPLICABILITY:
2012MY Impreza, All Models;
(Vehicles equipped with remote engine starter)
SUBJECT:
DTC B1410
INTRODUCTION
If a vehicle with remote entry and immobilizer system is started with the remote engine starter (port or dealer installed) DTC B1410 (communication error of transponder) is memorized as a past failure after the engine is turned off The DTC can be read with the SSM3 but NO warning lamp light is illuminated and the customer will not notice any symptom DTC B1410 designates a problem in the transponder and/or immobilizer antenna. It appears if communication between the transponder and the body integrated unit is NOT correct. However; when the remote engine starter is used, the system falsely detects a problem because the transponder signal is bypassed, but the key (transponder), the immobilizer antenna and the remote engine starter are okay.
Following the troubleshooting chart will avoid needless replacement of the key (transponder), the immobilizer antenna and the remote engine starter.
