Removal [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

2016 Scion iM Automatic CVT TransSECTION Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
      WARNING:
      • Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.
      • If the vehicle is not secure, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
  2. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift lever assembly.

    2. Disconnect the transmission control shift cable from the floor shift lever assembly.
    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Turn the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the floor shift lever assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not rotate the nut excessively as the internal spring may jump out and the transmission control cable assembly will not be reusable.

  4. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 clamps to disconnect the wire harness from the floor shift lever assembly.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and floor shift lever assembly from the vehicle body.
