Open the lift gate.
Remove the lift gate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate .
Using a pick type tool, depress the lift gate lock cylinder release button on the bottom side of the lift gate outside handle.

Remove the lift gate lock cylinder from the outside handle and disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the cylinder lever.
