Rack & Pinion Boots: Installation
2000 Saturn SLSECTION Installation
- Install NEW clamp on inner end of boot. Apply service kit grease to areas on steering gear and inner tie rod where boot will make contact when installed. Slide steering gear boot onto rod assembly until large end of boot is seated into steering gear housing groove. Ensure small pad on inner end of boot is toward front.
- Crimp inner end of boot clamp using Pliers (SA9164C). Crimp outer end of boot clamp using same pliers. Install jam nut onto inner tie rod. To complete installation, reverse remainder of removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Check front wheel toe.
