Strut Assembly: Removal

2000 Saturn SC2 Automatic, MP6SECTION Removal
  1. Raise and support vehicle, with front suspension hanging freely. Remove wheel.
  2. WARNING: If nut on top of strut shaft is removed without first compressing strut spring, strut spring will forcefully expand, possibly causing personal injury.
  3. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, nuts securing strut to steering knuckle. See Figure . Remove and discard 3 upper strut mount nuts. Place a rag over CV joint boot to protect boot. While supporting strut assembly, remove bolts and nuts securing strut to steering knuckle and remove strut assembly. Discard nuts.
