2000 Saturn SC2 Automatic, MP6FACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Blower Motor Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition ON. Ensure HVAC fuse (15-amp), located in instrument panel fuse block, and ignition fuse No. 3 (30-amp), located in underhood fuse block, are okay. Replace as necessary. Using DVOM, check for battery voltage at terminal "D" (Brown wire) of blower switch. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Brown wire.
  2. Turn blower motor switch to low position. Using DVOM, check for voltage at terminal "D" (Yellow wire) at blower motor resistor. If voltage is not present, check for open in Yellow wire and repair as necessary. If voltage is present, check for voltage at terminal "C" (Dark Blue wire) at blower resistor. If voltage is not present, check blower resistor operation. See BLOWER RESISTORΒ  under COMPONENT TESTS. If blower switch is okay, go to next step.
  3. Check for continuity between terminal "C" (Dark Blue wire) at blower motor resistor and terminal E1 of blower motor relay. If continuity is not present, check for open in Dark Blue wire and repair as necessary. If continuity is present, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect blower motor relay. Using DVOM, check for battery voltage at terminal D1 (Red wire) at blower motor relay. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Brown wire between underhood fuse block and blower motor relay.
  5. Using jumper wire, connect terminal D1 (Red wire) to terminal F2 (Purple wire). If blower motor operates, check blower motor relay. See BLOWER RELAYΒ  under COMPONENT TESTS. If blower motor does not operate, go to next step.
  6. Check for battery voltage at blower motor connector terminal "B" (Purple wire). If battery voltage is present, replace blower motor. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Purple wire.
