Diagnostic Procedure

2000 Saturn LW2 AutomaticSECTION Diagnostic Procedure
  1. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool, monitor intermittent wiper voltage. If voltage is more than 0.4 volt, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDSΒ  . If voltage is less than 0.4 volt, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector. Using scan tool, monitor intermittent wiper voltage. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, replace wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCHΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector J3 (Pink). Check for continuity between ground and wiper/washer switch connector terminal "C" (Dark/Green wire). See Fig 1 . Check for continuity between wiper/washer switch connector terminals "C" (Dark/Green wire) and "D" (Gray wire). If continuity exists in either circuit, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire, or shorted Dark Green wire and Gray wire. If continuity does not exist, replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
