Cylinder Head: Inspection
Using straightedge and feeler gauge, measure warpage of cylinder head deck surface. See CYLINDER HEAD table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Using straightedge and feeler gauge, measure warpage of cylinder block surface. See CYLINDER BLOCK table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Inspect timing chain guides for cracks, damage and wear. Replace chain guides if wear exceeds .045" (1.12 mm). Inspect timing chain and sprockets for cracks, damage or wear. Replace as necessary.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
