2000 Saturn LS1 L4-2.2L VIN FSECTION Liftgate Lock Cylinder Coding
REMOVAL




1. Remove E-clip at rear of lock cylinder and remove pawl.




2. Remove switch lever and return spring.




3. Compress inside snap ring and remove. Remove washer plate and compression spring.
4. Remove lock cylinder from liftgate lock cylinder housing.




5. Remove cap and gasket from lock cylinder.

IMPORTANT: When shutter is removed, the shutter springs may fall out.

6. Remove shutter and shutter springs.
7. Insert key into cylinder, turn it a quarter turn clockwise and remove cylinder from housing.

IMPORTANT: When the tumblers are removed from the lock cylinder tumbler, springs may fall out.




8. Push tumblers out of lock cylinder using a thin bladed screwdriver.
9. If necessary, remove sidebar assembly by pushing it inward while tapping the cylinder causing it to fall out.




10. Select the correct tumblers for the desired key code by the number stamped on the tumbler.

IMPORTANT: Make sure sidebar and tumbler springs are in place before installing tumblers




11. Install tumblers by applying downward pressure until they lock into position.
12. To check coding of cylinder, insert key. If coding is correct, tumblers will be flush with the cylinder with key inserted.
13. For assembly, oil lock set with a light oil or graphite lubricant.
14. Insert lock cylinder with key into cylinder housing, turn it a quarter turn counter clockwise to lock it into place




15. Install shutter, shutter springs, cap and gasket.




16. Install lock cylinder into liftgate lock cylinder housing.
17. Install compression spring, washer plate, and snap ring




18. Install switch lever into lock cylinder housing.
19. Place one leg of the return spring into the slot between the switch lever and the plastic housing.




20. Align the pawl so the top leg of the return spring slides into the slot in the pawl.




21. Rotate the pawl counter clockwise in the lock latch cylinder housing. If done properly, the keyway in the pawl will slide down over the key on top of lock cylinder.
22. Install E-clip at rear of lock cylinder.
