Change Oil Soon Lamp Illuminated With Low Mileage (Install New ECM/PCM Calibration)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment about the Change Oil Soon lamp illuminating at lower mileage than expected after the lamp has been reset.
CAUSE:
A software calibration in the ECM/PCM determines when to illuminate the Change Oil Soon lamp based upon the number of crankshaft revolutions and coolant temperature. The total number of crankshaft revolutions necessary to illuminate the change oil soon lamp was insufficient.
CORRECTION:
Install new ECM/PCM calibration according to the following calibration table. Refer to "Service Programming System (SPS)" in the Saturn Service Stall System (SSS) User Guide for reprogramming procedures.
