2000 Saturn LS AutomaticSECTION Disabling System (Catera)
  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key. Wait at least one minute for capacitors in SDM to discharge before working on system.
  2. Remove upper and lower steering column trim covers. Disconnect the driver air bag module wiring harness connector from steering wheel SIR coil connector.
  3. Remove 4 screws and trim cover from passenger air bag module on right side of instrument panel. For passenger air bag, remove CPA clip and disconnect 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. See Fig 1.

  4. Remove the driver's outer seat track trim cover. Disconnect the driver seat belt pretensioner 2-pin connector from vehicle harness. Remove CPA clip from driver side air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector, if equipped. Disconnect Yellow SIR connector from vehicle harness. The connector is located under driver's seat. Repeat procedure for right-hand (passenger) seat belt pretensioner and 2-pin Yellow SIR connector, if equipped.
