Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Circuit Description
Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor is a thermistor. TFT sensor is part of Transmission Fluid Pressure (TFP) manual valve position switch. PCM supplies a 5-volt reference signal to sensor. When transaxle fluid is cold, sensor resistance is high and PCM senses a high signal voltage. As transaxle fluid warms, sensor resistance lowers and PCM senses lower voltage. PCM uses TFT reading in order to control TCC apply and release, line pressure adjustments, and temperature compensated shifts. DTC P0713 will set when PCM detects a continuous open or short to voltage in TFT sensor circuit or TFT sensor.
