Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See COMPONENT LOCATIONSΒ . Using scan tool, attempt to establish communication with Body Control Module (BCM). Check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) stored in BCM memory which may lead to misdiagnosis of rear defogger system. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If any defogger system related DTCs are stored in BCM memory, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEXΒ table. If no defogger system related DTCs exist in BCM memory, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEXΒ table under SYSTEM TESTS.
