TACHOMETER
Run the vehicle at several different RPMs to verify that the tachometer is functioning properly.

Use the scan tool to compare the RPM on the tachometer to the RPM on the scan tool with the engine running. If the scan tool does not display an RPM refer to DTC 1693 for further diagnosis.

SPEEDOMETER
Follow diagnostics on the following pages.

If the speedometer is completely inoperative the internal power supply of the cluster can be checked.
^ Key in the RUN position, engine Off and all of the cluster connectors connected.
^ Measure the voltage between pins J to K of the black 18-way cluster connector. Voltage should be greater than or equal to 7.0 volts.
^ If voltage ok, proceed with charts.
^ If the voltage is less than 7.0 volts, refer to Instrument Cluster replacement.
