4TH Clutch: Reassembly

- Lubricate new piston oil seals. Install clutch piston in clutch housing. Install return springs and spring retainer. Compress return spring retainer and install snap ring. Install apply plate. Install 3 internal tanged and 2 external tanged clutch plates. Install clutch plates with fiber side up. Starting with internal tanged plate, alternate internal and external tanged plates. Install backing plate and snap ring.
- Using both Clutch Checking Weights (SA9111T-1 and SA9111T-2), place weights on top of clutch backing plate. See Figure . Apply 80 psi (550 kPa) of compressed air to clutch fluid passage and check operation. Using a dial indicator, check clutch end play.
- End play should be .036-.046" (0.91-1.17 mm). If end play is not as specified, selective size snap rings are available from .063-.113" (1.60-2.87 mm) in .007" (.18 mm) increments.
