DTC Will Clear

When fault history is removed, DTC 53 will remain an active and history DTC regardless if ignition switch is turned off or scan tool CLEAR CODES command is issued. SDM must be replaced.

- 1) If inflator modules have not deployed, DTC may have set falsely.
- 2) If DTC 53 has set with no signs of frontal impact, DTC has set falsely.
- 5) This test checks for SDM malfunction setting DTC.
- 7) This test determines if DTC was set inadvertently during diagnosis.
- 8) When frontal crash has occurred, it is necessary to perform indicated procedures to ensure SIR system is fully functional.
