DTC P1599
The PCM has a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) associated with start/stall to assist in diagnosis of intermittent conditions. This DTC will set if the engine is in the run mode and crank position sensor (CKP) signal is lost when ignition has not been cycled. This DTC will not turn on the MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) or SERVICE telltale lamps. The code can be set through driver error. An example would be a vehicle equipped with manual transaxle which the clutch is released too quickly stalling the engine.
DTC PARAMETERS TEST DESCRIPTION
Engine in run mode. Check for DTC P0336. If present refer to diagnosis chart and repair first.
Ignition voltage present. Verify driver error did not induce.
Crank pulses to the PCM are missing. View MALF history and attempt to duplicate condition.
If no DTCs are present and customer complaint symptoms have been verified, use the SYMPTOMS charts to isolate subsystems.
If other DTCs are set along with P1599, diagnose the other DTCs first.
