1995 Saturn SL1 AutomaticSECTION Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Using scan tool, read transmission fluid temperature. If scan tool temperature reading is less than 284°F (140°C), problem is intermittent. Go to next step.
  2. Disconnect transmission oil temperature sensor connector. Sensor is between pressure filter and cooler line connection. Read transmission fluid temperature. If scan tool temperature reading is less than -35°F (-37°C), sensor is faulty. To confirm sensor resistance, see DTC P0713  , TRANSAXLE TEMPERATURE COLD (CIRCUIT OPEN).
  3. If scan tool temperature reading is -35°F (-37°C) or greater, Black wire between sensor and PCM is grounded or Black wire is shorted to Orange/Black wire or PCM is faulty.
