2ND/3RD Clutch: Reassembly

- Lubricate new piston oil seals. Install Clutch Housing Step (SA9117T-2) and Seal Protector (SA9117T-3) in clutch housing. Using Seal Installers from (SA9117T), install clutch piston in clutch housing. Install return springs and spring retainer.
- Compress return spring retainer and install snap ring. Install apply plate. Install clutch plates with fiber side up. Starting with internal tanged plate, alternate internal and external tanged plates. See 2ND/3RD CLUTCH PLATE APPLICATIONΒ

Application Quantity 2nd Clutch Internal Tanged 5 External Tanged 4 3rd Clutch Internal Tanged 4 External Tanged 3 - Using both Clutch Checking Weights (SA9111T-1 and SA9111T-2), place weights on top of clutch backing plate. See Figure . Apply 80 psi (550 kPa) of compressed air to each clutch fluid passage and check operation. Using a dial indicator, check clutch end play.
- End play for 2nd clutch should be .060-.086" (1.52-2.18 mm). End play for 3rd clutch should be .046-.061" (1.17-1.55 mm). If end play is not as specified, selective size snap rings are available from .063-.113" (1.60-2.87 mm) in .007" (.18 mm) increments.
