PURPOSE
This bulletin provides a procedure for installing the fuel tank fill cap holder retainer to the fuel fill door on the above mentioned vehicles, at customer's request.
PROCEDURE
- Using a bench grinder, remove shaded areas of plastic from rear side of fuel tank fill cap holder retainer (P/N 21110502). See Fig 1 . This makes the rear side of the fuel tank fill cap holder retainer flush.
- Clean surface of inner side of fuel door and rear side of fuel tank fill cap holder retainer with isopropyl alcohol to ensure adhesion of double sided foam tape to, both surfaces.
- Apply 3M SCOTCH-MOUNT Super Automotive Attachment Tape (P/N 06383) or equivalent double sided foam tape, to the rear side of the fuel tank fill cap holder retainer. See Fig 1
.NOTE: For best adhesion, vehicle surface should be at room temperature.
- To determine vertical placement of fuel tank fill cap holder retainer on fuel door, measure 6 mm (1/4 in.) up from "Unleaded Fuel Only" decal placement marks on fuel door, and mark the location.
- Remove backing paper from foam tape and position fuel tank fill cap holder retainer on fuel door with the bottom aligned with the mark made in step 4. The left edge of the fuel tank fill cap holder retainer will touch tab of fuel door. See Fig 2 .
- Press fuel tank fill cap holder retainer firmly in place on fuel door to ensure adhesion. Make sure not to exert too much pressure to prevent deforming fuel door.
