Differential

2000 Saab 9-3 Convertible (9400) L4-2.0L Turbo (B205)SECTION Differential

Differential
The differential function means that the outer wheel is allowed to rotate faster than the inner wheel when cornering. The small differential pinions thus rotate around the differential shaft when the larger differential pinions have different speeds for standing still when driving straight ahead when the larger differential pinions have equal speed. The power is transmitted from the final drive pinion to the final drive gear wheel, mounted to the differential housing. From the differential housing, the power is transmitted via the small differential pinions to the larger which are connected to the inner driver and intermediate shaft with a splined connection. The power is then transmitted via the drive shafts to the wheels.
